Promoting the Long Distance Hiking ExperienceSAHC and The One Percent Club are dedicated in promoting the true long distance hiking experience. Until recent years, the long distance hiking experience included leaving a hostel better than you found it, stopping to help with trail work when the opportunity arose, and helping other hikers finish their journey.
With the advent of technology, the long distance hiking experience is now very different; however, Now the Appalachian Trail has been polluted with politics and greed from it's very own primary governing body. YouTube and "Internet Hikers" have become the norm, and there are so many hikers feeds at road crossings, that one doesn't have to resupply until The real paying members of nearly all of the Trail Clubs and organizations along the Appalachian Trail, and all other thriving long trails in the Eastern United States. SAWC and the One Percent Club will promote and support these trails and organizations via our monthly newsletter, and on certain social media platforms. SAWC and the One Percent club will promote all trail work opportunities, along with opportunities to assist Service Providers on all trails. Engaging the Next Generation of Trail StewardsNow more than ever, trail organizations need to engage future volunteers at all levels, and at every opportunity. SAWC and the One Percent Club are dedicated to engaging the next generation of outdoor volunteers on the trail via our monthly newsletter, certain social media platforms, and during Trail Days in Damascus, Virginia.
